Playing the games

The big-picture answer to the question is often a tough one to come up with. Not everyone knows exactly where they want to be one year from now, or ten years from now, and on down the line. Yet, I find that by simply attempting to answer the question multiple times each day, I get closer and closer to defining my overall idea of success, and thus closer to understanding how to achieve it.
But the big picture isn’t the whole picture. While understanding what will make you feel like a success in the future and figuring out how to achieve that success should be your overall career goal, every day you are faced with a handful of situations that you can apply this question to. The reason I ask myself question 5 every hour of every working day is so that I can focus on feeling like a winner and a success in everything I do, big or small.

What’s It Going to Take to Leave Feeling Like a Winner?

This is a hard one to answer. I think you’ll find that by asking yourself this question you’re not always going to get the obvious answer you’d expect. I always end my reality check by asking myself what it’s going to take to leave feeling like a winner because I find it to be the most centering of all the questions. This is the question that puts everything into perspective and reminds me what I’m doing this whole work thing for in the first place.
Not everyone wants or needs to be a CEO. in fact, a very small percentage of us will ever have the opportunity to sit atop a large corporation. Not everyone needs or wants to be making a seven- figure salary every year. While I’m sure most people wouldn’t turn down a million bucks if it were handed to them on the street, not everyone wants or needs to work the hours it takes, on average, to earn a yearly seven-figure salary.
